Kirtchia, deep in the heart of Chad. In the dry season, temperatures soar past 117°F (47°C). Ponds evaporate. Animals die. And the villagers dig the sand with their bare hands, hoping to find muddy, often contaminated water. The village elders had lost all hope.
When the Water4Chad truck made its way down the dusty tracks, the village chief, Adoum, said: “Many have come with promises. No one came back with water.” But this time was different. The team worked three days under crushing heat. And when the first trickle of water broke the surface, Adoum stood up, hands trembling.
“God has heard Kirtchia,” he said.
Since then, the village has come back to life. A small market has sprung up around the water point. Herds are watered. Women make mud bricks to build new houses. Kirtchia is no longer a village people leave — it’s a village where people stay.
In the most remote places, water changes everything. Help Water4Chad reach those the world forgets. 🌍💧
